MINNEAPOLIS —
Steven Lightman has been promoted to executive vp, catalog, at Fingerhut Companies. He takes over the responsibilities of Dick Tate, the former president of the catalog who retired in May.
Reporting to Michael Sherman, president of Fingerhut, Lightman will now oversee the operations and management of Fingerhut's core catalog and subsidiary catalog business. He was previously president of Arizona Mail Order, which Fingerhut purchased in 1998.
"Steve is one of the most energetic and talented executives in the industry," said Sherman. "By combining the Fingerhut and subsidiary catalogs under one umbrella, we can leverage his strengths and continue to develop our catalog businesses."
With almost 20 years in the direct marketing industry, Lightman joined Arizona Mail Order in 1982. Fingerhut bought AMO in an effort to develop its business through growth and acquisition, and AMO provided as a platform into the apparel market. Lightman served as president of the subsidiary and was instrumental in the successful acquisitions of Bedford Fair Apparel, Lew Magram and Brownstone. Lightman will now work with Sherman to provide overall direction for the catalog businesses.
