Thorndike Mills Connects Retailers Directly to Consumers

Domestic braided rug manufacturer Thorndike Mills — a division of TMI Industries — has launched a new website that the company said makes it easier for retailers to work with the mill.
“The focus behind the creation was not only to build an attractive, informative site, but more so to find a way that Thorndike could direct potential business straight to a retailer,” explained Karen Garabedian, national sales manager. “Consumers browsing Thorndike’s site not only will learn about [the company’s] wares, but they will have the ability to select and save product they are interested in and to request free sample cuttings with a minimal shipping-and-handling fee from a Thorndike retailer of their choice.”
Through a new program called RoomSim, she added, the retailer is “immediately notified” and relays the message to Thorndike to ship out a swatch.
This program has been tested and is “now proving to be very worthwhile,” said Mitchell Garabedian, president.
While Thorndike could have “bypassed the retailer” in this process, involving its retail customers instead “re-enforces customer service,” said Karen Garabedian.
Added Mitchell Garabedian: “With business the way it’s been recently and hearing many complaints of lack of customers coming through dealers’ doors, RoomSim participating retailers have expressed gratitude for these bonus sales that they might not have otherwise been privileged to.”
