Bloomingdale's returns to fashion roots

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/13/2002 12:00:00 AM

New York — With the launch of "Everything is Coming Up Roses," Bloomingdale's returns to its once legendary and trend setting total home furnishings fashion event.

The rose theme is found in all home departments from an extensive home textiles assortment to specially designed rose motifs in accessories and dinnerware to the cabbage rose printed fabric from Cyrus Clark used on upholstered furniture to table linens.

The rose — the floral favorite at this year's European home fashions events — is being used as the event's color palette. As a result, the colors throughout range from naturals to brights reflecting the scope of colors in rose petals and leaves.

The rose event was kicked off with a party on the furniture floor that benefited the Central Park Conservancy and was hosted by Bloomingdale's ceo Michael Gould.

In home textiles, the rose theme is used in exclusive bed ensembles from Pillowtex and Crown Crafts as well as imported embroidered and jacquard towels, shower curtains and accessories from Raymond Waites, said Lester Gribetz, vp, home fashions.

There also is an extensive quilt collection of matelasses and wovens — one of the store's strong suits, Gribetz added.
