Tactel ups performance of bath rugs

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 10/14/2002 12:00:00 AM

Bath rugs will have a new softness and better performance with the introduction of Tactel, DuPont's microfiber of type 6,6 nylon.

The rugs, launched by Mohawk, are now available at Sears. Expanded distribution is expected for spring 2003.

The microfiber's size and shape allow it to prevent moisture from remaining in the bath rug, allowing for extra-fast drying, said Carol Haslach, marketing communications manager for DuPont Nylon Flooring, part of DuPont Textiles & Interiors.

The Tactel nylon fiber also allows the creation of various surface textures and design alternatives.

Haslach said, "DuPont has combined innovation and technology to create a fiber for bath rugs that provide a natural look and softness with easy care and durability."
