New Ralph beds grow home mix

New York — The three bedding collections unveiled last week for the Ralph Lauren Collection are designed to evoke the feel and design of a summer vacation by the shore, the shlubby chic of an artist's cottage and the masculine elegance of the master bedroom.
Following up on the introductions made earlier this month to retailers, Ralph Lauren Home introduced its latest bed collections, Beekman, Mood Indigo and Mecox Bay, as well as a collection of accent pieces from a collection titled Sagaponack, to the trade press.
The tone of the master bedroom components of Beekman is set by the top of the bed, which includes several lambskin pillows that are offered in flanged or perforated leather, a diagonal stripe or windowpane. Also on top of the bed are two types of European shams, one in white flanged with brown, while the other features an oversized chevron pattern. A cocoa sham edged in white and a chocolate-pieced lambskin leather blanket complete the top-of-bed offerings. Rounding out Beekman are 400-count cotton sateen sheets with white pillowcases, brown pajama piping and plaid draperies.
In the guest bedroom of Beekman, the bed is more masculine. On the top of bed are linen, houndstooth European shams, which are edged in brown leather, cocoa-colored standard shams in silk twill, a pattern taken from the apparel division's Purple Label blazer. Also on top of the bed is a geometric throw pillow in linen but with a wool look and an alligator boudoir pillow. For the underbed, a 460-count sateen sheet is finished with hemstitching on the pillowcases and top sheet, while a yarn-dyed shirting stripe adorns the duvet. Also available is a cotton faille nightspread backed in chocolate velvet and a silk jacquard or cashmere cable throw in coffee or cream shades.
The second collection stays true to its name, Mood Indigo, as blue in various shades and hues dominates the collection. A soft-looped wool rug is custom-made to size in Europe, while the duvet cover, sham and fitted sheet are printed to resemble a faded pair of blue jeans. The European sham keeps the denim feel going with metal jean buttons. Both the denim channel-stitched quilt and cotton rib knit throw are done in a deep indigo shade, which is offset by the ocean-washed top sheet and pillowcases.
The final bedding collection, called Mecox Bay, is designed with bright, yet relaxed, summer colors. On the top of bed is a madras plaid European sham and duvet mix combined with shirting stripe pillowcases in lemon and turquoise colorways and with a white cuff. The fitted sheet and linen throw pillow are also turquoise and are complemented with white cotton cable knit shams and a yellow cotton bed blanket. Also offered as part of Mecox Bay are several throws and pillows in various shades of turquoise, lemon, tangerine, magenta and ultramarine and in madras plaid or ribbon stripe patterns. Also offered are cashmere mini-cable knit throws and several beach towels in signature Polo equestrian prints. The towels will be exclusive to Polo retail stores.
Although not a bedding collection, Sagaponack is a full accessory collection that may be used in the bedroom or throughout the house. The pillows are done in natural skins in a variety of finishes ranging from whip-stitching to suedes with trapunto quilting and natural colors such as caramel, maple, amber and white. Oversized floor cushions in knit paper, a looped hemp rug in wheat and cream and a Mongolian lamb throw complete the look.
In the solid-color sheeting and bath towel programs, several new colors have been added. The 300-count Avenue sheet offers the addition of isle, seabreeze, blush and mariner colors, while the 280-count Estate sheet will have sage, pink, rose, aqua, wheat, vista, delta, dark olive and hunter colorways added to its ranks. Lemon ice, blue ice, pale citron, pale lavender, pale aqua, melon, honeysuckle, celery, strawberry, hyannis and cobalt will all be added to the 275-count Polo sheet.
For the Polo solid-color towel line, coral, grass, pink and wisteria were added to the lineup while dusty rose, grove, lily and slate colorways were added to the Avenue towel line.
