Wal-Mart promotes Pilozzi

BENTONVILLE, AR —
Wal-Mart Stores has announced the promotion of Mario Pilozzi to president and ceo of Wal-Mart's Canadian division. He was previously leading the division as coo.
With more than 35 years in the Canadian retail industry, Pilozzi joined Wal-Mart Canada in 1994 as vp and gmm of hardlines merchandise and was promoted to senior vp of merchandise and sales in 1996. In September 2000, he was promoted to coo.
"Under Mario's leadership our Canadian team has continued to excel and set new standards for retail excellence in Canada," said John Menzer, president and ceo of Wal-Mart International, and to whom Pilozzi reports. "We are fortunate to have someone of Mario's caliber to head our Canadian operation."
In January 2000, he received the Sam M. Walton Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the company's highest recognition of outstanding retail leadership, which exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. He is was the first Canadian to be so honored.
Prior to joining Wal-Mart, Pilozzi worked at Woolworth Canada in a variety of positions, including vp of hardlines merchandise, administrator of store openings, district manager and store manager.
