Maley Joins Park B. Smith

Veteran home textiles executive Margaret "Mickey" Maley has joined Park B. Smith Inc. in the newly created position of director of sales and business development.

Previously, Maley was director of product development at Karsten America, and earlier was with the former WestPoint Stevens for nine years.

The company also has signed Alexander Terry Associates of Atlanta as its new agency for the Southeast. The rep firm has a showroom in the Atlanta Mart and seven reps that call on home textiles and gift specialty retailers. They report to Maley.

Dennard Joins Kaleen

Handmade area rug manufacturer Kaleen named Blake Dennard vp of sales, reporting to evp Joe Barkley.

Dennard's focus is to manage and direct the company's independent sales associates. He brings more than 15 years of career experience in the rug industry. Most recently Dennard was vp of the Main Street Market Group at Oriental Weavers North America.

Marcus Departs Duckwall

Rural general merchandiser Duckwall-ALCO Stores said that vp, cfo Mike Marcus has left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Until a new cfo is hired, Jon Ramsey, controller, will manage all day-to-day financial responsibilities, the company reported.

Unifi Adds Two to Board

Polyester and nylon yarn producer Unifi has appointed two new members to its board of directors.

William Sams, of Dallas, was president and chief investment officer of FPA Paramount Fund from 1981-2000, and was evp at First Pacific Advisors and FPA Perennial Fund. He has also served on the board of America's Car-Mart Inc.

Anthony Loo, of Shanghai, is managing director of Rio Tinto China and Rio Tinto Asia. He previously spent nearly 20 years with DuPont, helping pioneer its entry into China.
