Seattle –– Pacific Coast Feather Company (PCFC) recently honored its two longest serving employees – Kay and Gary Abbott – for half a century of service.
The celebration was held in late May at the company’s plant in Henderson, N.C.
Gary and Kay -- who happen to be brother and sister-in-law -- both began their careers with Southern Quilters in 1959, which was acquired by PCFC in 2000.
Over the course of his 50-year tenure, Gary has held a variety of positions from quilting machine operator to plant manager. Currently, he works in the receiving side of the business.
Kay has also held several positions throughout her five-decade career with the company. She started out as a pattern sewer and was eventually promoted to sewing supervisor. Today, she works as plant receptionist.
PCFC said that both Gary and Kay “are enthusiastic about going to work everyday and neither can imagine what they would do otherwise.”
Added Darnell Evans, Henderson plant manager” “I can’t ask for two more dedicated, hard-working people. They genuinely care about what they do and make every effort to make sure it’s done well.”
Pacific Coast Feather Company – a family owned and operated textiles mill which this year turns 125 years old, is a longtime major player in the basic bedding industry. Its line comprises pillows, comforters, mattress pads, feather beds and sheets.
We would love your feedback!
