Williamsburg issues license to Windham Fabrics

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 6/28/2007 12:32:00 PM

Williamsburg, Va. – Williamsburg and Windham Fabrics have teamed up to produce a new line of quilt fabrics that are inspired by, or actual reproductions of, 18th-  and 19th-century textiles in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collections.

This is a new product category for the Williamsburg brand and a natural addition to its wide array of product in home and gift. The initial introduction will consist of an extensive fabric collection to be launched this October at the International Quilt Market in Houston. Product distribution will be exclusively through independent quilt shops nationwide.

“We are thrilled about this relationship with Windham Fabrics,” said Jim Easton, vp of products for the Foundation. “This relationship will allow Williamsburg to extend its offerings into all aspects of soft home décor, making it a wonderful resource for those consumers who are passionate about home sewing and quilting.”

Mickey Krueger, president of Windham Fabrics (a division of Baum Textile Mills), noted, “The number of quilters in the United States is on the rise, and historic fabrics in particular is a growing market.”
