Coteminas, an acronym for Companhia de Tecidos Norte de Minas, is a major manufacturer of bedding, table linens, bath towels, window treatments and apparel based here with a presence in four Brazilian states.
The company, which is vertically integrated, has 11 modern manufacturing facilities throughout Brazil. From these sites, it supplies yarn, fabric, bedding, bath ensembles, towels and assorted apparel goods. Some of its brand names for household goods are Artex, Santista, Paladio, Calfat and Garcia. Thread and fabric sales account for 46 percent of the company's $250 million in revenue for 2000; bed, table and bathroom linens make up 39 percent; and shirts and stockings are 15 percent.

Coteminas recently partnered with Springs Industries under a strategic long-term alliance to produce bedding and bath products. Coteminas will provide all the manufacturing resources to support Springs' sales and marketing on home furnishings products in North America.
