Glen Raven, N.C. – Performance fabric maker Glen Raven Custom Fabrics has been recognized as a new member of the South Carolina Environmental Excellence Program (SCEEP) for eco-efforts at its Anderson, S.C. plant.
Through recycling and reduction initiatives, the plant has prevented more than 400 tons annually of materials from going to landfills and has reclaimed for product use 500 tons of raw material waste, the company noted.
The one-million-square-foot manufacturing facility, which produces Sunbrella brand outdoor fabric, is also involved in the Upstate Air Quality Action Plan to reduce pollution.
“As we advance best practices in all areas of our operations each year, we also use state-of-the-art approaches to enhance our environmental performance,” said Jack Woodson, director of operations for the Anderson facility.
