Natori Celebrates 30 Years with Stylish Collections

At the New York Market — New opening price points for bedding, expanded offerings in quilts, decorative pillows and throws, and a new product launch – the steamer blanket – are key elements in the new Natori collection of bedding and textile accessories for fall.

The expanded product offering is part of the 30th anniversary celebration of Natori, the apparel and lingerie designer supplier. New to the product mix is a bed covering reminiscent of the deck chair blankets provided to passengers on trans-Atlantic crossings in the 1920s and '30s. The Steamer Blanket is featured in lieu of a duvet on several beds, and is a blend of bamboo and wool in a luxurious texture.

Quilts including Dragon Embroidery in a dramatic dragon motif, and Trapunto, a subtle tone on tone, highlight the category introductions at $500 and $300 respectively for the queen. Featured throws include the Natori bamboo/wool style, the luxurious Natori cashmere construction, the new lightweight all wool throw in a pointelle weave, and a wool blend with contrast embroidery. Important new fabrics include leather, suede, fur, mud dyed silk, and yarn dyed cotton. Throws range from $100 to $700.

New decorative pillows, designed to take the collection beyond bedroom coordinates, include metallic wovens, metallic leather appliqués, gold and silver wire boullion used in Zardosi embroidery, as well as carved stone details, beading, and embroidery. Retails range from $100 to $400.

In the seven new bedding ensembles, Clubhouse references a simple fretwork design as its statement, with the white coverlet stitched in a flannel color, and reversing to chili pepper red. The quilting pattern is printed on a jacquard for bedding with a red grosgrain trim.

At the opposite end of the design statement is Suzhou, inspired by an 18th century Chinese silk ceremonial robe using vermicelli quilting on the bed covering, with a signature bed shawl. Delicate embroidery and bands of woven ribbons detail the printed bedding. Queen bedding ranges from $750 to $3,500.
