Saddle Brook, N.J. –.Nourison, known for handmade accent rugs, tested printed rugs for the first time at holiday and will now grow the collection to 60 patterns, to be offered during the February mini-market in New York.
Gary Shafran, sales and marketing manager for the company's accent rug division, said of the printed rugs, “Retailers were really very happy and the sell-throughs were incredible. They are another vehicle that will help us expand our business. It's a new construction we have experience in and we'll exploit it."
The screen printed, hand-carved rugs, which feature a latex backing, represent a more aggressive price point among Nourison's accent offerings. A 2-by-3 is set to retail for $9.99. By comparison, a hooked rug sells for $19.99. Both target the same retail channels: specialty and department stores.
