Fabric Trends Revealed at Decosit

Brussels, Belgium – Black and white, often mixed with gray and sparked with red, was a major color statement at Decosit here last month.

The purple family continued its favored color status in an array of shades for many European producers as well. Prints were given feature status at more show spaces than in recent years.

Above all, shimmer and sheen were seen in all fabric constructions, but especially in velvets as well as in embellishments using Swarovski crystals.


Italvelluti of Italy creates a unique look with a shirred velvet
in a polyester/viscose/cotton blend.

Vanelli of Turkey highlights Danans, an elegant jacquard 
in soft greens and golds in a polyester/viscose blend.

An overscaled floral polyester/cotton print in a contemporary 
mood is featured in pinks and reds at Sati of Spain.

A Jacobean floral takes on a contemporary flavor 
in an enlarged print at M.F.T.A. of France.

Art Deco influences are seen in the dimensional velvet in 
pale aqua on brown at Reynaert of Belgium.

Matisse of France uses metallic yarns in red and silver 
as decorative accents against a shimmery red ground.

Freyett’s of England takes a sparkling view of contemporary 
with a black polyester sheer embellished with circles of 
embroidery and enhanced with Swarovski crystals.

A delicately drawn floral reaches back to its traditional roots 
in a linen/cotton print at Edinburgh Weavers of England.

Zirko, a polyester floral on a purple ground, gets is luster 
from a colored monofilament polyamide yarn 
at Deslee Clama of Belgium.
