CHF bringing Kate Spade back into bed and bath

-- Home Textiles Today, 3/3/2010 7:52:00 AM

New York – CHF Industries today announced that it has entered into an exclusive licensing alliance with kate spade new york, to create the kate spade new york home collection. The arrangement covers the U.S. and some international markets.

The kate spade new york home collection will include sheets, duvets, shams, bedding accessories, bath accessories, bath towels and rugs. The line targets higher-end department stores and specialty home retailers and is expected to launch at retail in fall 2010.

“The collection will include details that are synonymous with the brand, including fresh color, charming prints, classic fabrics, and signature trims,” said Joan Karron, executive vp, CHF Industries

The kate spade new york deal adds to a roster of CHF licenses, including Donna Karan Home Collection, DKNY, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Roxy, Quiksilver, Dockers, Peri, Daisy Fuentes, Umbra and Loft Style.

Deborah Lloyd, co-president and creative director for kate spade new york said the new collection “will embody the spirit of our brand – wit, whimsy and a dash of color.”

This will be the second outing for the kate spade brand in home textiles, following a 2003 licensing arrangement with Springs, which ended after a little over two years. In 2007, the designer Kate Spade sold her brand to liz claiborne inc., which has worked to broaden the line.

The brand now operates 36 retail shops, an e-commerce business, 89 boutiques in Asia, a new flagship in Brazil and has category penetration in handbags, accessories, jewelry, shoes, apparel, eyewear, hosiery, tabletop, paper and fragrance.
