Honeywell to boost prices, add new yarns

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Honeywell has announced a price increase of five cents per pound over the current price of all nylon textile products from Honeywell Nylon LLC. The company also said there will be a price increase on carpet fiber products, specialty polymers and certain chemical intermediates. The price hike becomes effective Aug. 1.
The pricing change was prompted by unexpected global tightness in the supply of benzene supply, a key petrochemical used in nylon production, the company said.
"This sharp rise in the price of benzene has dramatically impacted raw material costs for nylon products," said Walter Hubbard, president, Honeywell Nylon.
Earlier, Honeywell Nylon announced it is offering two new yarn options for bath rugs made with Anso Soft nylon fiber. A new three-level dye process — called the Monet color process — achieves greater coloration and styling effects, the company said. In addition, a new "sparkle" yarn is also available and can be used in combination with the Monet color process or as a stand-alone effect.
