Natco in Maine Weaving Expansion

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/9/2009 12:00:00 AM

After seven months of construction, area rug supplier Natco Home Products has completed the 60,000-square-foot expansion of its domestic weaving facility in Sanford, Maine.

Natco broke ground early last summer to be able to meet increasing demands for its domestically manufactured machine-made rugs.

The company said this factory “had been running at capacity and the facility was literally bursting at the seams with finished product.”

The additional space allows for more efficient storage of both raw materials and finished product.

Jim Thompson, vp of sales and marketing, added that Natco has invested in new equipment and upgraded all of its looms, “and we continue to emphasize our U.S. production as a major competitive advantage.” The company has also invested “heavily” in its design and color departments and has updated all of its color palettes.

“Our design department has doubled in size, and we are placing a huge emphasis on fashion-forward colors and designs that fit today’s home trends,” Thompson said.
