Linen Source Sold

Linen Source has been sold to Orchard Brands Corporation, based here, which is owned by San Francisco's Gold Gate Capital.

The catalog and online retailer had been owned by the Franzblau family of Tampa, which purchased the 67-year-old company in 1990. The family, which operated the business under The Thompson Group, last month sold its Casual Living USA business, according to investment bank Tully & Holland, which handled both transactions.

Linen Source was founded in 1943 as Colonial Maid Curtains.

Orchard Brands operates 15 print and online catalogs as well as 13 Appleseed's stores, 23 Draper's & Damon's stores, one Old Pueblo Traders store and three outlets through which it sells merchandise from its Norm Thompson, Sahalie, Solutions, Winter Silks and Gold Violin brands.

Golden Gate Capital's retail investments include Eddie Bauer and J. Jill, among others.

Target Debuts Mobile Coupons

After debuting mobile gift cards last month, Target is launching a scannable mobile coupon program through which consumers receive offers on their mobile phones, then scan a barcode on the phone at checkout.

Target claims to be the first retail with the technology to scan mobile barcodes in all 1,740 of its stores.

Consumers can sign up the mobile program from their PC at Target.com/mobile. Alternatively, they can sign up using their mobile phone at m.target.com or by texting COUPONS to 827438 (which spells Target).

The 415,000-square-foot unit will be built on 13.5 acres along the western side of Interstate 25 in the Park Meadows area, accessible from connections to Dry Creek Road and County Line Road exits.

Ikea currently operates 37 stores in the U.S. and a total of 300 in 38 countries.
