Nichol duties broadened at Dan River

New York– At manufacturer Dan River, Bruce Nichol, vp of product development, now will head the design and development efforts.

The move comes following the recent resignation of Melanie Kaplan, who had been svp, product design and development. Kaplan, as noted, has joined retailer Hanover Direct as chief creative officer of design and development.

“After more than 20 years with Dan River , Melanie is doing what’s best for her career,” said Dan Hammer, evp and president-sales and marketing, Dan River .

“The business today is less about trend direction as seen by a single company like Dan River, than what is right for each customer,” explained Hammer. “We constantly are reevaluating the landscape, and have set up teams to work with specific retailers. We are not deemphasizing our efforts in design,” but changing the focus, he said.
