'Little touches' play big part at Thomasville

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/28/2003 12:00:00 AM

Thomasville put the push on designs with strong color stories, extra detailing and interesting fabrics at the spring New York Home Textiles Market.

"We think all of the little touches are very important," said Joyce Post, design director. "We're going with fancier tassels and more multi-color stories than we've done in the past. We're trying to continually address the strength of our factory in Georgia."

Portico, for example, featured a crushed poly fabric with rayon/chenille flowers and gold tracery in a palette of copper, topaz and gold.

Inspiration translated a classic botanical in a palette of grasshopper green print on a moire-like textured ground. The top of bed reverses to a maize/green/eggplant stripe. Embroidered butterflies embellished dec pillows and shams, with more stripes employed on toss pillows. The coordinating window valance featured a customized tooling.

Accents for Raja included woven chenille and metallic top of bed in tangerine, grape and kiwi, tied in silks and an iridescent foulard on the sham.

Villency featured a classic bouquet on a buttercup ground with periwinkle accents. The top of bed tied to damask print sheet, with accents in a homespun plaid shirting motif.
