Bloomington, Ind. -- Woven accents producer Textillery Weavers will showcase a new collection of throws crafted from environmentally sustainable bamboo yarns during the October 2007 High Point Furniture Market.
Textillery points to bamboo fiber’s durability and soft, smooth characteristics. The Bamboo Collection has a 75% bamboo/25% acrylic composition in a boucle weave.
“Bamboo yarn is a wonderful and versatile medium to work with,” said Judith Rose, head designer, Textillery. “It’s light and strong, incredibly soft and able to take a variety of dye colors quite well.”
Rose added, “Most important, it’s one of the most sustainable textile fibers on the market today, which allows us to respond to increased customer demand for environmentally conscious design while also contributing to the corporate responsibility goals we’ve set for our own company.”
Fast growing, bamboo does not usually need pesticides or herbicides to thrive. Therefore, the plantations can be kept organic and replanted yearly.
The Bamboo Collection, to be displayed at the Textillery showroom D408 in the International Home Furnishings Center - Design Center, uses seven soft color tones: natural, cashew, spa blue, Dijon gold, paprika red, light tobacco brown, and dark Kelley green. Each throw comes with a 2-inch fringe. The throws are available in a 42-inch-by-72-inch size with a suggested retail of $215 and 52-by-72 with a suggested retail of $290.
