Mohawk to construct additional plant

SUGAR VALLEY, Ga. — Mohawk Home later this year will break ground on its seventh finishing and distribution facility, with completion slated for end of 2005.
Merle Johnson, vice president of marketing, said the company is creating the new site — which will serve primarily for the finishing and distribution of area rugs — for its textiles division in order to "consolidate some of our distribution centers for future growth potential and be more flexible in our manufacturing."
The new Mohawk Home facility is one of two to be built in Calhoun, Ga., on the same acreage and next to an existing Mohawk Industries distribution center for broadloom products. The second facility is being made for the production of hardwood flooring, which the company said is a growing business.
We would love your feedback!
