Donna does downtown

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 8/15/2001 12:00:00 AM

New York — Donna Karan International has just opened its second New York location in SoHo, showcasing apparel as well as a selection of its home products.

Located a world away from the flagship Madison Avenue store at 420 West Broadway, the new 7,000 square foot space is funky like its SoHo neighbors, with concrete floors, high ceilings and exposed brick. Walls of mirrors visually extend the space even more, and raised platforms add dimension.

Home textiles are limited to decorative accents only, as the bedding is exclusive to the department store channel, said Joanne Gibbs, director of marketing, Donna Karan Home. Decorative pillows, throws and blankets are salted throughout the store, with the collection's "low-end" starting at $80 for a fur-trimmed wool pillow and $200 for a chunky floor pillow to a Criss Cross leather pillow for $750 and a rabbit cashmere throw for $3,000. A few products from other vendors were represented as well, including pillows from Dransfield & Ross.
