Biltmore adds new rugs, textiles to licensed program at Atlanta markets

-- Home Textiles Today, 11/25/2009 8:18:00 AM

Asheville, N.C. – Biltmore's licensing division, specializing in products inspired by the historic Biltmore House and gardens here, will be showing several collections of new products – including decorative home textiles – in January during the concurring Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market and the Atlanta International Area Rug Market.

Intricate hand carvings, finely wrought metal and classic motifs stemming from the estate serve as sources of inspiration soft floor coverings, decorative accessories and outdoor living.

"The architecture of Biltmore House has long been an inspiration for our partners," said Tim Rosebrock, vp and general manager of Biltmore's licensing division. "The Biltmore products showing at Atlanta markets this January reflect a variety of interpretations, from imagery of the grounds to more subtle designs borrowed from columns, carvings and architectural details."

This January, licensee partners showing Biltmore products in Atlanta include Manual Woodworkers & Weavers and Capel Rugs.

From Manual Woodworkers & Weavers comes a variety of products that include linens and woven pictorial tapestries. The fleur de lis motif, found throughout George Vanderbilt's collection is also a common theme among the company's introductions. Examples include the Pergola tapestry wall hanging.

The partnership between Capel Rugs and Biltmore began with the reproduction of antique textiles that were a part of Vanderbilt's collection. Recently, the area rugs from this line have evolved to include more contemporary designs inspired by the architecture and other details found in Biltmore House and gardens. There are several new collections being added, including Orchard House and Finesse-Gate House.

MWW and Capel both operate their Atlanta showrooms at the AmericasMart – MWW in Building 2, West Wing, in suite 697, and Capel in Building 1, space 6F2.
