Penney pushing spa-themed holiday

NEW YORK — JCPenney's will push home textiles under a spa theme for holiday, which begins rolling out in stores in late October but breaks on jcpenney.com under a holiday shop concept later this month.

The holiday shop check list runs to more than 170 items. In addition to the traditional gift-giving categories of family apparel, housewares, consumer electronics and gadgetry, Penney suggests appropriate gifts for the family canine and feline — ranging from a $9.99 pet photo album to a $79.99 wheeled pet carrier and a $99.99 dog bed.

The focus in the spa area of the shop is Chris Madden at Home: towels ($18.00), tub mat ($18.00), bath robe ($49.99), hair twist ($16.99) and spa pillow ($17.00). The remainder of the department includes aromatherapy candles and four HoMedics massaging products.

Textiles also turn up in the holiday luxury department: a crocodile faux fur throw for $69.99, coordinating pillow for $20.00 and Chris Madden microchenille throw for $120.00.
