Donna does up the details

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/26/2008 12:58:00 PM

New York – Pintucking, elaborate embroideries and pleating are key design directions for both Donna Karan Collection and DKNY for spring.

In Donna Karan Collection, Luster features pintucking, an origami flower, and banding on a crepe de chine. Another silk bed, inspired by a kimono in the designer’s collection, features floral embroidery on a bronze and brown colorway.

Pure Comfort Stripe, a universal stripe that is designed to work with all of the new and existing beds, is made from organic cotton.

Pewter and olive are new colors added to the Essential solid color range, bringing the total to nine shades. Camel and pewter are new colors in the Donna Karan Collection towel.

DKNY features Color Block in bedding, a translation from the existing shower curtain and bath collection, with pleating an important design element. Confetti, a cotton sateen print, sports broad ties used on the duvet and pillows; Bamboo Shade is graphic and colorful in shades of green with spaghetti ribbon closures and enhanced with flat inverted pleating.

In DKNY bath, Urban Stripe is a new towel in five colors. Chrysanthemum Floral uses the flower motif etched on the edges of the towels.

Window coverings play an important, new role in the DKNY mix, with Color Block featured in a back tab grommet style, and Ribbon, a sheer tab top with rosettes at each tab, among the innovations.
