Basofil to Go Flame Resistant

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 5/21/2007 12:00:00 AM

The Sumlin Group has launched Basofil Solutions to supply the home furnishings industry with flame-resistant yarns, fabrics, prefabricated parts, and sewing thread utilizing Basofil heat and flame-resistant fiber.

Nathan Dry, a former R&D executive of Guilford Mills and Cortina Fabrics, is president of Basofil Solutions.

Dry said, "We are concentrating on products for the dynamic CPSC 16 CFR 1633 open flame standard for mattresses due July 1, 2007 and the top-of-the-bed requirements expected in 2010."

Patented Alessandra sheath core flame resistant yarn and fabric, for top of bed, upholstery, and mattress barrier uses, will also be marketed by the new unit.
