Javits Dates Not Up For Vote

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/28/2005 12:00:00 AM

New York — Although the Home Fashions Products Association set up a poll about the timing of New York market weeks for showrooms, the organizer of the New York Home Textiles Show at the Javits Center said its dates are not part of the process.

In addition, show organizer George Little Management said its exhibitors support the current market structure.

“New York Home Textiles Market dates are set by a group representative of the entire industry, not just the HFPA. The group is comprised of GLM, HFPA and other market constituents — so that all factions of the industry are well represented, and the needs of the majority are met. Market dates have been set through this process since 1992, and have effectively served the industry. The New York Home Textiles Show continues to have tremendous support for a twice-annual market in spring and fall,” the organization said in a written statement.
