City of Commerce, Calif. – In April 2006 mother-and-son duo Sherry Samani Dadbim and Ben Dadbim joined forces to create a decorative pillow and table runner company, Sentiments Inc., offering open line and custom goods.
At next week’s New York Home Fashions Market, they will present their second line at the company’s new showroom in the lobby of 230 Fifth Avenue. Aside from courting the U. S. market, Sentiments is also building a customer base in South America and Europe.
Samani Dadbim said she brings two decades of career experience designing home textiles. Her son offers his fresh academic background: just before joining the company he earned his bachelor’s degree in economics with a focus on computer science and accounting.
Together, they have established a partnership with a manufacturer in China over the past year and a half and developed a broad line that includes taffeta, faux silk, real silk, jacquard, chenille – “you name it, basically,” said Samani Dadbim.
Decorative pillows by Sentiments come in “lots of shapes and sizes” she has designed, with a concentration on middle to high-end styles -- “but at very competitive prices.” Samani Dadbim formerly created patterns under her own By Sherry label, and has now dubbed that group Design Collection by Sherry.
