Art Van hires Dilliplane as accessories buyer

Warren, Mich. – Family owned and operated 30-unit furniture and home furnishings chain Art Van has appointed Donald Dilliplane to accessories buyer, reporting to Bob Price, vp of merchandising.

Dilliplane began his retail career in 1988 working in sales for Boyles Furniture in North Carolina. He climbed the ranks there and became accessory buyer in 1993. Then in 2006, brand development responsibilities were added to his role.

He has three times been named Best Retailer in the Home Furnishings Industry in the Eastern U.S.

Dilliplane – who is relocating with his family to the Detroit area – in his new stint is responsible for purchasing all furniture accessories, including area rugs, lighting, wall décor and containers.

Art Van said that as it continues to promote and display merchandise in lifestyle settings, Dilliplane’s “extensive buying experience and keen fashion sense will help create the personality and attitude of each group.”

Art Van, which was founded in 1959 by Art Van Elslander, operates its chain in 29 localities throughout Michigan.
