Low Moor, Va. —
Bacova Guild Ltd. will consolidate its Cartersville, Ga., bath rug manufacturing operations, moving them to the company's plants here at headquarters and at the Rocky Mount, Va., facility.
Bacova plans to complete the effort by December. Bath rugs will continue to be supplied from its state-of-the-art distribution center in Low Moor.
The move unites the tufting and finishing components of the business with Bacova's newest technologies in rug dyeing. It also allows for faster service to customers, the company noted.
Phillip Essig, ceo, said the "substantial capital investment we needed to make to modernize operations" forced Bacova to choose the best site. "Virginia was the obvious choice given our substantial operations and investments that already exist in that locale."
The new equipment uses a fraction of the water and energy needed by current equipment. The main energy source will be a carbon-neutral biomass boiler, aiding the goal of leaving "a tiny footprint on the environment," said Charlie Bowers, president. He added, "This move is part of its corporate initiative to reduce its use of raw materials and natural resources, to reduce its carbon footprint, to reuse and recycle wherever possible, and to develop products that have less impact on the environment."
We would love your feedback!
