Wurl oversees home at both Sears, Kmart

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/14/2007 1:04:00 PM

Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Sears Holdings Corp. (SHC) has given former ShopKo exec Doug Wurl decision-making duties in home merchandising for both Sears and Kmart. HTT research pegged 2005 home textiles sales at the chains as $1.094 billion for Kmart and $458 million at Sears.

Wurl, who was formerly senior vp, gmm hardlines and home at the Midwest upscale discounter ShopKo, came to SHC in October 2006 as vp, gmm home fashions for Sears. His new title is vp, gmm home fashions, SHC. His areas of responsibility for the two chains are bed and bath, home décor, housewares, RTA furniture, and mattresses. Also, the Home Fashions Design function will now report directly to Wurl.

Prior to his stint at ShopKo, Wurl had posts at Rich’s Department Stores, Federated Merchandising Group, and May Department Stores.
