Shanghai —
Officials here recently celebrated the foundation laying for the Shanghai International Home Textile Industrial Park in the Yangpu district, the seat of the city's textiles manufacturing industry.
Yangu is populated by more than 200 textiles companies with an export value of $250 million. When the $200 million industrial park opens in 2007, it is expected to serve as a hub of the home textiles industry. In addition to exhibition space, the park will house research and development facilities, a copyright protection office and offices for the China Home Textile Association and the Shanghai Home Textile Trade Association.
The project is backed by an investment from the Shanghai Pengxin International Hometextile Development Co. Ltd. and supported by the Economic Commission of Yangpu Shanghai.
Yang Donghui, chairman of the China Home Textile Association, noted during the opening that though China's home textiles exports grew to $10.7 billion last year, “most of China's products are still confined in the low-end.”
He added, “We must expend efforts toward improving out information and logistic services to attract promising enterprises and talent.”
We would love your feedback!
