Tommy, Pillowtex take bedding Back-to-School
April 15, 2002,
AT THE NEW YORK MARKET Tommy Hilfiger Home has unveiled a new utility bedding program produced by Pillowtex with an initial emphasis on Back-to-School.
Offered as an ensemble is Crazy Daisy, which is adorned with bold, pop art-inspired flowers of fiery orange and red on a field of pink for the comforter face. The face also provides a twist, as the flower outlines glow in the dark. The top-of-bed is complemented with touches of denim; red sheets with a pattern of white dots and tiny H's; and red-and-white graffiti.
New for the Hilfiger signature collection are the Emily and Huckleberry Corner ensembles. Emily uses a comforter and shams with sun-bleached pink and blue flowers on climbing vines of green on a background of tiny TH's, while oxford stripes, a soft yellow plaid and a sheet of pale blooms on a seafoam background complement the bright, packed blossoms of Huckleberry Corner.
Capping off the fashion introductions are Meadowcroft and Hunter House for the Crest Collection. Meadowcroft's comforter face features a rich floral on a background of midnight blue while the reverse is a deep blue shirting pinstripe. Red, navy and cream braided cord finish the sophisticated look. Rounding out the ensemble are 400-count sateen pima cotton sheets in a paisley pattern in blue, brown and garnet. Hunter House is built on menswear looks in navy, hunter green, storm blue and ivory. A regimental stripe is paired with a Jacobean design, with the whole bed finished with braided cord and pima cotton sheets.
Following the lead of the fashion offerings, the utility bedding program is available in three collections: Tommy Hilfiger Crest, Tommy Flag Hilfiger and Varsity. The line is being manufactured by Pillowtex under a sublicensing agreement with Revman.
"The products in this line are really exciting," said Norm Savaria, senior vp and chief merchandising officer for Revman. "Pillowtex did a great job in emphasizing the details and differentiating the line."
For the Crest collection, a white goose down pillow and a gussetted pillow and a synthetic gussetted pillow are offered. Constructed from a 330-count woven jacquard with a woven Hilfiger crest and trimmed with gold sating piping, prices for the comforter start at $380 for a twin; $150 for the down pillow; and $45 for the synthetic pillow.
The Flag Hilfiger offerings — a white goose down comforter and down pillow, a synthetic/natural gussetted pillow and a feather pillow — are constructed from a woven 315-count jacquard for the comforters and 300-count for the pillows. Each have an interlocking Th design and red, white and blue regimental stripe cotton piping. Prices for this collection range from $30 for the synthetic/natural pillow and the feather pillows, $240 for the comforter and $120 for the white goose down pillow.
The Varsity collection offers the Flag pillow, with a 300-count woven jacquard cover and white goose down filling as well as a basic woven stripe feather pillow with a 260-count woven cover that has white goose feather filling. Prices here start at $90 for the Flag pillow and $25 for the woven stripe.
Also included in the Varsity group are 233-count Back-to-School bedding accessories, including body pillows, back wedges, reading pillows and comforters, all printed in classic stripe, flag and plaid designs.
A TH Basic Density Program, which is made up of three pillows, is also being offered. A soft, medium and extra firm support pillow, with prices starting at $25, are offered.
