Divatex, QVC preview designer Basso line

New York — The new Dennis Basso Home line garnered plenty of attention with a preview hosted here this morning by shopping channel QVC and Divatex Home Fashions.

Surrounded by television cameras, five beds were unveiled along with looks for the spring 2003 season. All five beds, three featuring fur top-of-bed and two made from cotton jacquard with fur trim, were developed exclusively for QVC by Divatex and are being sold by the channel beginning Friday at 11 a.m. E.S.T.

"Divatex fulfills my vision of what the bedroom should look like," Basso told HTT. Basso is known for his fur ready-to-wear and has sold through QVC for the past nine years. "[Divatex is] able to execute, and I had an immediate connection with them."

According to Avi Gross, president of Divatex, and Gregory DeLoia, domestics buyer for QVC, a typical Dennis Basso Home ensemble will be pitched on air as four skus — a sheet set, comforter set, three decorative pillows and throws — to keep it as simple as possible for QVC's consumer shoppers.

"We're working with Dennis to create a whole home fashion collection," said Gross, who said collections by seasons are in the works, as are some basic, solid-color, high-quality sheets.

"I expect double-digit growth from this program every year," Gross added.
