Cost Plus loss shrinks in Q1
Oakland, Calif. - On the heels of its May 9 merger announcement with Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., Cost Plus reported results for its first quarter, which included an improved net loss as well as high single-digit increases in both sales and comps. -

New York - Yesterday's end of day price on Cotton #2 futures for July contracts was 77 cents. The price on October contracts was 77 cents. -

Hoffman Estates, Ill. - Shortly after reporting a first-quarter profit this morning, Sears Holdings announced that it will sell off a partial interest in the Sears Canada operation. -
Wal-Mart gains traction
Bentonville, Ark. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. posted its biggest first quarter sales gain in three years, with revenues up 8.6% to $112.3 billion.
